“Home sweet … Hotel,” an apartment located in the Damac / Versace building in downtown Beirut.
The brief was clear: create a home that looks like a hotel. Hence the unified colors in the space. High end wallpaper and bespoke furniture in various shades of grey were selected to create the homogeneity of a hotel. On the wall, art deco pattern pop with colors to break the grey monotony and give life to the space. That same pattern of grey was used all over the apartment from the bedroom, to the bathrooms passing by the living space and kitchen.
Initially, the 160 m2 apartment was designed with classical paneling. The design team left a few of these paneling and removed some in order to create a modern vibe. The original black flooring of the entrance was heightened by black patina on silver leaf paper on the walls giving the hallway a lighter touch and a welcoming feeling.
The apartment’s basic plans did not include many storage room, so the studio proceeded to create several storage spaces in the house, as they are an essential part of any home. Also included in the space are various functions of the hotel room, from mini bar to toiletries and so on.
The space also includes several pieces from the Formitable collection, a line of unique and custom made design table by the studio itself. The tables were chosen in the same color scheme of the apartment to complement the apartment’s theme.
“It was a challenging project as we worked on keeping the homey feeling all the while adding the hotel vibe. And perhaps the biggest rewards are seeing the genuine satisfaction and happiness on the client’s face at the reveal of the final product,” concludes Wael Farran, lead designer on the project.
