THE GALLERY: When furniture rhymes with sculpture…
“Why can’t furniture be art?” This question inspired interior architect and artist Wael Farran toward establishing “THE GALLERY”, an imaginative space celebrating tables as functional pieces of art.
Artistic expression and masterly techniques all come together in this ultra-modern exhibition space located in the heart of Gemmayze, where Wael Farran displays original pieces of his mind.
According to the interior architect, a table is much more than a simple centerpiece. A table is where loved ones are brought together, where valuable masterpieces are praised, where guests are honored and attention is served. With his flair for originality and his passion for redefining spaces, he chooses to echo the multiples aspects of tables in a myriad of eloquent designs.
At the gallery, open spaces and soaring ceilings, coupled with a 100sqm garden, serve as the perfect setting to shed the light on exquisite and limited table designs, hand-crafted using various artistic processes and old carpentry techniques. The collection blurs the boundaries between art and craft, between form and function, and includes exclusive center tables, side tables, sofa tables and consoles that touch the viewer in infinite ways.
Highlighting the table as a stage, or a reflection of personal bonds, Wael Farran’s thought-provoking pieces succeed in making that common surface unique, unforgettable, and amazingly strange. Hence, every table has been designed with a strange combination of textures, materials and creative techniques. From art deco to ultra-modern styles, the interior architect explored unusual fusions of experimental elements, such as decorative paintings assorted with wood, rusted iron encrusted with soft lacquered wood and oxidized elements assorted with Plexiglas. He also breathed life into vintage and antique tables dating to the early 20th century, turning them into modern masterpieces with a new imaginative existence.
“The Gallery” is a celebration of elegance and eloquence, function and art, materials and textures. Every piece will present countless opportunities to question methods and perceptions and to delve into unexpected layers of aesthetic richness.
