A quaint little place for an artistic soul, this project was designed with in an eclectic vintage style that complements the owner’s soulful and artistic lifestyle. The tone is set from the entrance door which combines two vintage oriental door panels encrusted with mother of pearls. The designer kept the original color and enhanced it with patina. The door handle was custom made in stainless-steel in the shape of the Hand of Fatima, encrusted with turquoise stones to protect from the evil eye. To the left, a two-screen oriental vintage door was upcycled into shutters for a coat closet. Its intricate inlaid mother of pearls pattern on both screens is enhanced by the colorful hand painted flowery elements.
The piece de resistance of the project is the balcony that was turned into a beautiful well-lit green indoor area for the owner’s collections. The shelves, made of white painted steel add brightness to the space and hold a big collection of books, antiques and indoor plants giving life and an outdoorsy feel to the indoor area. The floor tiles, custom made by Blatt Chaaya, were produced to create a gradient feeling within the room. The owner, who is an artist herself, contributed to the design of the tiles.
The main bathroom which also features custom made tiles by Blatt Chaaya boasts a Boffy sink and mixer tap, a solid French oak countertop as well as oriental antiques decorating items to keep up with the theme. The second bathroom includes French oak veneer cabinets and a unique sink in a beautiful royal blue. Both bathrooms are fitted with bamboo shutter curtains to keep the vintage feel. Finally, we added our touch to the guest bathroom in the form of a custom-made Lego door handle.
“Working with an artist is always a plus as the creative process becomes more cooperative and certainly more personal,” concludes Wael Farran, lead designer and founder of Wael Farran Studio.
